At what point did loving our country, teaching our children strong values, and upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that shaped America start being labeled as 'extreme'?"
The reality is that the foundations of Western civilization—liberty, justice, and human dignity—did not arise from secular theories, but from a worldview grounded in faith, responsibility, and community. What’s truly extreme is the progressive agenda being promoted in our schools: pushing radical ideology in classrooms, sidelining parental rights, and disregarding the very values that helped shape our nation
So the real question is… Who actually represents YOUR values?
The candidates who want to preserve faith, family, and freedom or those who want to erase them?
Parents and taxpayers in CFISD deserve to know exactly who is seeking to shape the future of our schools. Words like “Opportunity for All” sound uplifting — but too often they are used as a mask for something very different: forced equal outcomes, not equal opportunities. That philosophy isn’t about empowering children, it’s about controlling them.
Now we are seeing candidates for our school board who are closely connected to former trustees with a troubling history of divisive rhetoric. Even if not openly racist, some of those past public statements reflected deeply concerning attitudes that do not belong in a position of leadership over our children’s education. When current candidates align themselves with those same individuals and outside organizations committed to reshaping our schools in this ideological direction, we have to ask the hard question: is this truly what’s best for CFISD?
This isn’t just about left vs. right — it’s about whether parents and children will be free to pursue excellence, or whether schools will be turned into laboratories for social experiments. Let’s stay awake, do our homework on who we are electing, and make sure the focus of this board remains on education, not indoctrination.
Every parent wants their child to be valued for who they are—their character, their hard work, and their unique talents. That’s why many families are concerned about Guilmart’s recent blog post. Instead of encouraging unity and mutual respect, her perspective seems to place extra blame and responsibility on students simply because of the color of their skin.
Labeling white children or families as inherently “guilty” of racism does not build understanding—it divides. True fairness means treating all children equally, without shame or suspicion, and without teaching some that they are oppressors while others are victims. Our schools should be a place where every student, no matter their background, is encouraged to achieve their best and treat others with dignity.
We believe in teaching history honestly, while also promoting respect, responsibility, and kindness for everyone. Let’s work together to build up our students—celebrating character and merit—rather than tearing down trust by introducing guilt or division. Every child deserves a learning environment that is fair, uplifting, and free from bias.
Leslie Guilmart’s promotion of experimental social-emotional learning programs raises urgent concerns about the direction of education in our community. Given the experimental nature and ideological influence behind such programming, serious questions must be asked about whether she truly represents the best interests and values of families to hold a position of trust on the school board.
