"Yeah, I think we're I think we've done discussing this.
I think we have an order.
I mean, tonight we're faced with really a critical decision of adopting a tax rate.
And as a fiscal conservative, I feel the discomfort as well.
But it's unfortunate reality of the crossroads we're at, right?
Despite our pushing our budget to levels of beyond my comfort zone, we feel little choice.
But it's not about taxes. It's not about numbers. It's really for far more formidable.
And that's really about the future of public education.
Supporting our school is not a matter of political ideologue.
It's not Democrat. It's not Republican. It's not conservative. It transcends all that.
It's about humanity. It's about doing the right thing.
And as an educated society, we have to have the cornerstone of our community, our nation.
And without it, everything we stand for will begin to fall apart. I know tonight is a difficult decision.
It's discomforting. But think of our district. Think of our teachers.
Think of our staff. Above all, think of our kids. Let's make it hard.
Let's think hard, but let's make the right decision for our futures. And let's leave that vision and purpose of well-being that we know we have to them behind us because we can't flip a switch.
We turn all the teachers if we have to lay them off. And that's something we're not going to do as a district.
With that, we're going to take a vote.
All those in favor sign by raising their right hand. All those opposed. So, two opposed, two against."
